Chulalongkorn Healthcare Advanced Multi-Profession Simulation Center (CHAMPS Center) was first founded as MDCU Clinical Skills and Simulation Center (CSSC) by Prof. Adisorn Patradul, MD who was the Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University since 2007-2011. He spent much concerning how can the faculty build medical students to accomplish the qualification of licensed physicians issued by the Medical Council of Thailand. He also emphasized the strategic plan of the faculty which aims to develop qualified and unique graduated medical students and healthcare personnel with the capability of efficient life-long self-development.

            During late 2007, the first committee for the development of CSSC was established. The policy and strategy were also made by the committee aiming for developing clinical skills, communication skills, physical examination skills, and procedural skills of medical students before encountering real patients. CSSC firstly located on the 3rd and 4th floor of the preventive and social medicine building, then move to the 11th floor of Bhumisiri Mangkhalanusorn Building in 2017 where provides more area, rooms, and facility to support simulation training for medical students.

            King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital (KCMH) also established another simulation lab named “Simulation and CPR Training Center” (SCTC) in 2018. SCTC is located on the 16th floor of Sor Thor Building, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. This center has different target groups from CSSC which aims for the training of non-medical student healthcare personnel including residents, nurses, emergency medical technicians, and other officers in the hospital. SCTC also provides CPR training for non-healthcare personnel and outsiders who interested in basic life support.

            The dean of the faculty and the director of KCMH, Prof. Suttipong Wacharasindhu, MD, has the vision to build the simulation center that complies the international standard and has abilities to be the leader of simulation-based medical education program in Thailand. Thus, he organized the executive committee to merge CSSC and SCTC into one center named “Chulalongkorn Healthcare Advanced Multi-Profession Simulation Center” (CHAMPS Center). The committee also takes responsibility for making the policy and managing CHAMPS Center to accomplish the center’s goals. Future expansion and development of CHAMPS Center to serve the needs of education for medical students and the hospital’s healthcare personnel are also the mission of CHAMPS committee.
